Synopsis

Venues de tous les horizons, dix femmes françaises d’origine étrangère racontent sur scène leur trajectoire. Elles ont de 40 à 74 ans, c’est leur première expérience théâtrale et elles saisissent cette chance de transmettre leur vécu à leurs proches et au grand public.

Comment peut-on être Française ? Comment fait-on de ses enfants des citoyens français ? Pas à pas se façonne leur engagement dans l’aventure artistique que le film a provoqué : une pièce de théâtre écrite avec les mots de ces mères à partir de leurs témoignages. Nos ancêtres les Gauloises livrent leurs secrets de fabrication, les écueils et les joies sur le chemin. L’identité nationale se conjugue au féminin pluriel !

English synopsis

Coming from all  around the world,  ten French women of foreign origin tell their story on stage. They are from 40 to 74 years old, this is their first theatrical adventure and they are seizing this opportunity to share their experiences with their relatives and the general public.

How can one be French? How can you raise your children as French citizens? Step by step we follow their involvement in the artistic project that the film has created : a theater play written with the words of these mothers, according to their testimony. “Our ancestors the Gauls” reveal their trade secrets, joys and pitfalls on the road. National identity is conjugating in the feminine plural !
